Welcome to an album of photos I took at the 2005 Reno National Air Races, Stead Airport, Reno, Nevada.
All of these photos were taken on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 during a day of Heat races and air show exhibitions. The final races took place on Sunday, 9/18/2005. Results have been added where appropriate as an update.

Columbia Leading Edge Notch
Here's another aerodynamic wonderment. The Lancair Columbia has this notch that is immediately in front of the inboard edge of the aileron. The "cuff" then extends on out to the tip. Maybe it provides better airflow over the aileron near stall or a delayed loss of lift while the inboard section stalls?
