Welcome to an album of photos I took at the 2005 Reno National Air Races, Stead Airport, Reno, Nevada. All of these photos were taken on Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 during a day of Heat races and air show exhibitions. The final races took place on Sunday, 9/18/2005. Results have been added where appropriate as an update. Photos by Joe Cook. Camera Olympus D-490Z Digital Zoom. Photos were taken at 1600x1200 resolution and reduced to 800x600 with Irfanview software.

Sport - TM Blue Thunder 351 Towing Out

This year 351 qualified fastest in the Sport class at 361.9 mph. This plane also set the absolute speed record for normally aspirated engines in its class with an FAI certified record of 374 mph over a 3km course at the Golden West Fly-in at Marysville, CA this year. In the Heats he has been running a very close 2nd to Greenamyer's turbocharged Legacy. Results for 2005 show Blue Thunder finished 2nd behind Greenamyer at 356.7 mph.
